Walking in South Devon

Message Board

A message from Karen Bridgman, Walks Secretary.

Unfortunately due to the extremely cold conditions forecast for this Sunday, taking into account the wind chill on Dartmoor and the probability of snow, both the long and short walks are cancelled.

Apologies to all our walkers. Let’s hope spring arrives soon.

A Linear Walk in Rain with the No 22 Bus

On Sunday 20th August the short walk entailed a linear walk with the aid of the No 22 Bus.

Mike Whitlock organised the timings with military precision so that, at 10.00 am 7 people, including a potential new member, left the bus at Moor Lane on the outskirts of Torquay to walk back to Teignmouth on the South West Coast Path. The day started off cloudy and it was not long before a steady drizzle encompassed the walkers and restricted the marvellous views on this roller coaster walk of some 5 miles.
They descended Heart Attack Hill with more of an attack on the knees than the heart to reach the Shaldon ferry to get back into Teignmouth in time for the Dawlish contingent to catch the 13.45 no 2 Bus.
Thank you Mike
