Teignmouth & Dawlish Ramblers

Walking in South Devon

Message Board

Unfortunately we have had to change the Evening Walk planned for Wednesday 25th July as the Manager of The Pig and Whistle Pub has refused us permission to park in his car park
Instead the walk is as follows:

Meet 7.0 pm Viaduct Dawlish (GR 964765) for a walk along Lady's Mile to Dawlish Warren returning along the seawall. About 3 miles
Leader Anne Mc

PLEASE NOTE the Walk originally planned for 25th will become a Tea Shop Walk on 1st September - with a different start point (ie the Berry Pomeroy Castle Car park)

A Walk From Buckfast Abbey to Holne and Back

On Sunday 27th August 18 ramblers from our Group took advantage of a clear blue sky to travel to Buckfast Abbey from were we walked up to Holne, a village on the edge of Dartmoor. We were able to welcome some new and returning couples and hope to see more now that people are being encouraged to walk briskly for at least 10 minutes. Of course, in Devon we don't have to walk briskly to get the heart rate up - walking up plenty of hills sees to that!
At lunch time we took over the frontage of the presently closed Church House Inn to eat our sandwiches before returning to Buckfast by an alternative route. Once back, many of us took advantage of the tea rooms for refreshment. Thank you Helen for organising the walk and the weather.
