On Sunday 8th October 19 Teignmouth & Dawlish Ramblers ventured onto Dartmoor with heavy ruck sacks full of wet weather gear whilst they were only wearing their last base layer on a summer like day.
The walkers included two new members from the Peak District who had never walked Dartmoor before. They were in for a treat as we set of from Scorhill Farm down by Gidleigh via North and South Park woods and on to Frenchbeer Rock and Middle Tor where a sun bathed lunch was taken. We then skirted Kestor before looking at the Tolmen in the hope of alleviating arthritic joints. Then it was over the tiny Teign to reach Scorhill stone circle before returning to the double parked car park.
Added entertainment included a bull at Teigncombe, concerned turkeys at Frenchbeer and both modern and traditional pony drives on the moor.
Many thanks to Karen and Barbara for an inspiring walk on a beautiful day.
